In the Middle - Jesse

An incarnation of another of Derek's characters, I had little to go on for a design besides a strong personality and disheveled, vaguely homeless look. Jesse's sly and intelligent, but hard on himself, and a Fairest, so I made him a roughed-up sort of handsome. Kinda ended up looking like Jamie Lannister from Game of Thrones, which is actually not that far off in some ways.

At first blush, Jesse seemed like the perfect match for Alice. Neither of them had much use for rules or laws, they were both thieves (and eventually became thick there-as, as it turned out), both orphans from a young age, and both had massive chips on their shoulders toward society. The problem getting in the way of that bond initially was in part Alice's Fae-damaged psyche, part Jesse's overeagerness. Throughout the story, though, he's remained one of Alice's closest and dearest companions, even if the two of them inadvertently started a cold war between the Summer and Autumn courts during one of their heists. Among the other courtiers, Jesse's known mostly for being a bitter drunk. And that he is, but only amongst other, more hidden things.
